Disability Awareness Services
Evangelising:
We have hosted many services in both Churches and local community groups, displaying the acceptance that is found in Christ for all people, including those with a disability. We have enjoyed seeing many touched by God and receive His free gift of salvation for their lives. We encourage people to recognise that God will use anyone – we simply need to be willing to hear and He will call.
Equipping:
We equip people with disabilities to know who they are in God and to be confident and bold in their faith. For He has equipped us for “every” good work! We endeavour to teach people that they are called of God for His purposes, despite their disability.
Educate:
We run seminars, educational sessions, skits & dramas and Church services to bring awareness to others of the value people with disabilities have in our communities. With 1 in 7 people in New Zealand with some form of disability, it is important that we are able to equip and educate people on how to overcome the barriers so often associated with a disability. We provide useful resources to assist people in areas such as communication, personal care, church services and “accessibility” issues, to name just a few (see our resource page for more details).
Disability Awareness Sunday
This is celebrated around the world on the 3rd Sunday in June each year. It is an opportunity for people with disabilities to show their love for Jesus in a very tangible way. While the style and theme may change from church to church, it is a wonderful way to celebrate the gift that people with disabilities can bring to any congregation. Jesus’ mission was to bring ALL men to Himself. Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that He (God) has a plan for our lives, a plan for hope and a good future..... that is for all of us.
Luke 14 tells us to “bring in the Blind, the Lame, the poor....”
