Joy Taupo
Hi and welcome to Joy Ministries Taupo! We have been meeting together for 2 years now and have around 50 people come along to our services. We host 4 services each year based at the Taupo Baptist Church on a Sunday afternoon, specifically for people with Intellectual disabilities. We also have people that attend our church and other churches in the area, come along to our special services. We have seen an increased number of folk with Intellectual Disabilities attending our morning and evening services here at Taupo Baptist, with some being baptised and becoming members here. We have a theme at each of our services, usually reflecting the season we are in. We encourage everyone to join in with the singing, dancing and playing musical instruments – it is a great time for us all. We pray for one another and celebrate birthdays or share news during our time together. We also pray for and take up a collection for the Intellectually Disabled in East Timor.
We have been collecting funds for a young woman there called Jacinta who, is about to move into a brand new house, partly due to the money we have donated – it is a wonderful opportunity for us all to see that it is truly ‘better to give, than to receive’.
