News from earth, June 2004

Auckland Committee
Camp.
  Auckland CFFD had their camp at Carey Park last weekend. It was absolutely awesome. The theme was "Using Your God-given Talents", and from our workshops it was interesting to discover what hidden talents we had. What we learnt was that if we do not use the talents/gifts that God has given us. we are then undermining Him and undervaluing ourselves.
Committee changes.
  The Committee had two long-standing members - Amanda Sutherland and Matalena Moliola - step down in April. We would like to thank them very much for their wonderful input and commitment to this ministry.

Alison Smith and John Beetge have come on board and we look forward to working together.

Jean Griffiths is Chairperson and Vanessa Creamer is the Secretary, along with our other valuable member, Michael Stoneham

People

Congratulations !

  • to Evan and May on their engagement;
  • to Pat Gill for turning the big 50.
Someone special -

Lara

Photograph of Lara. We see Lara's head and shoulders, and her lovely smile. Hi ! I'm Lara McColl. I'm 23 years old and I live at home with my parents and 2 of my brothers. I come along to CMWDT every Tuesday. I've been working for 2 years at food town as a bakery assistant. I really enjoy my life-group, Youth meetings, going to movies with friends and listening to music and playing my guitar. I also enjoy going to new places and want to travel more in the future.

HELP CRISIS AT THE CENTRE

Within 2 weeks we will be losing the services of our librarian, our driver and our groundsman. We also have a desperate need of help in the kitchen and of helpers in the Drop In room. Would you be willing to help in any of these areas, even if it is for just one day a week? Many who have come to help just on one occasion have loved the experience and have continued to come on a regular basis.

Phone Joy Pollock on 636-4763 if you could possibly help, or call at the Centre on the days we are open, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
