News from earth, August 2004

Auckland Committee
Leaders' Camp.
Last weekend, five of the six committee members went to a Leaders' Camp at Totara Springs. It was an encouraging time as we gathered together with other branches around NZ.

It was a time of sharing ideas and how we could work together. Once again it was emphasised that the CFFD organisation works as a whole and not separate entities. Even though we are all over NZ, this camp brought us into unity and some have invited each other to either speak or partake in their fellowship. 1 Cor.3:9 "For we are God's fellow workers.." This entails everyone of us, not as spectators but joining in and knowing we belong in the body of Christ.

CFFD is looking at raising the profile of its ministry and bringing an awareness of people with disabilities, so if your church or any other orgainisation would like to know more about us, we would be happy to have a team come to visit you.

People

Congratulations !

  • to David Ryan & Alison Smith on their marriage celebrated on the 31st July.
Condolences -

  • to Graeme and Sharon Lepper at the passing of their son Adam;
  • also to Craig Henderson and his family at the passing of his Father on the 17th July.
Someone special -

Jenny

Photograph of Jenny. Jenny is riding a camel ! My name is Jenny Hook. I do the Auckland Supplement for the Encourager. I have been going to CMWDT for a year and a half. I heard about it from a friend of Mum's who spoke to me. Mum's friend passed on the message that I'd like to go and I heard from Di. Through CMWDT I have had the opportunity to share my testimony with others and to share my love of dancing.

I have a married brother and a baby niece who is one year old. I love children and work putting books away at my local school. I also work in my church office once a week. One of my interests is Poetry - Christian poetry, descriptive poetry. Here is an example of one.

THE WALL
A wall is up
A wall impregnable,
Bashing thumping impossible to break through
A wall it seems so strong,
A closeness to God hard to reach
A heart felt cry to the Lord above,
And the wall begins to crack
Down it comes in a pile of ruin,
The Lord a Master craftsman.

Contact the Centre : Ph. 636-4763

HELP CRISIS AT THE CENTRE

We have now lost the services of our librarian, our driver and our groundsman. We also have a desperate need of help in the kitchen and of helpers in the Drop-In room. Would you be willing to help in any of these areas, even if it is for just one day a week ? Many who have come to help just on one occasion have loved the experience and have continued to come on a regular basis.

Phone Joy Pollock on 636-4763 if you could possibly help, or call at the Centre on the days we are open - Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

Notices

The Drop-In Centre is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during school terms between 10.00am and 2.00pm. The Drop-In Centre is not open during school holidays.

The Centre always welcomes volunteers for the kitchen, Drop-in and van driving.

Ring Joy Pollock for any information about the Drop-in-Centre ph. 636-4763.
