A SPECIAL DAY
|
|
On 11th June about 50 people invaded the hall at Central
Baptist for lunch and an afternoon with the Homersham
and Gardner families. Friends came from Hamilton, Te
Awamutu, Rotorua, Te Puke and Katikati. There were at
least two new people from Tauranga. This was the last
meeting that Keith Lornie planned for us, and like all
the meetings Keith arranged, it was a good time. Maybe
that is because Keith always prayed about everything,
New committee member Sara did a great job of introducing
and welcoming the team. She shared some much-appreciated
verses from the Bible. Dianne said everything in their
family revolves around the Lord and around music. As
each of the team told us their names and a little about
themselves, they all said they love music. We were
treated to a variety of items including keyboard
solos by Jade, Haylee and Josh. There was a guitar duet,
a guitar quartet, vocal solos and duets and a skit about
Mary, Martha and Jesus called "In His Presence". This
was followed by the song, "I Just Want To Be Where You
Are". Michael shared a special answer to prayer and
Haylee sang a beautiful modern version of "His Eye Is On
The Sparrow".
Dianne, in speaking of Keith said someone at his funeral
told how he ALWAYS spent time alone with God each
morning and evening, and she said his life showed it.
Then we all sang, "Something Beautiful" as we thought of
Keith. Dianne concluded with a short message before
afternoon tea. Thanks to all who worked to make the day
such a success.

It was a shock to hear
of Keith's sudden death,
The following tributes
are from Bay of Plenty
friends. They speak on
behalf of others who
find it difficult to
put their thoughts in
writing.

KEITH - A FRIEND INDEED
|
It was with joy and sadness that we heard about the death of
Keith. Joy because we knew he had gone to be with the Lord
Jesus Christ, whom he loved and served until the end, and
sadness because he will be greatly missed as chairman of the
Bay of Plenty CFFD and as a member of our extended family.
Although acquainted with much grief and sadness in his own
life, Keith was always an inspiration to others with a word
of comfort or encouragement in every situation. The times we
remembered and loved most about Keith were when he would
come around for a meal - he didn't care whether it was a
roast or a recycled meal from the night before.
After dinner we would make a big pot of tea, put it on the
table with cups and settle down to share the Word of God
with each other. What precious times we had around our
table sharing the Lord, what He had done, what He was
doing and what He was going to do in these days.
- Bob and Sheila Wright
I first met Keith 8 1/2 years ago at the CFFD Centre in
Auckland - only once. Yet he remembered my name when we
met again in Tauranga. We were both involved with
praying in B.O.P. Branch. Keith was always there, at the
committee meetings, outings, dinners, camps and the
Bethlehem Baptist Special Needs service. We all
respected him for his dedication in looking after
Marilyn, his loyalty to CFFD and the help he gave so
many people, but especially his love for his Lord.
Keith had dinner with us just six nights before he died.
He will be missed very much.
- Lyndsay Bol
Keith was one of my best friends and he came after
school every Wednesday. He played ball with me. It was
really fun.
- Emily
I liked to do things with Papa Keith. He was caring and
I miss him.
- Aimee
Papa Keith was a great man of God. He loved as Jesus
loved and was kind to all, big or small. For me and
others he was almost perfect. Can you get better than
that? I didn't see any bad in him. What a way to go,
doing someone else's lawn. How many people die helping?
Not many. I miss him greatly and I will never forget
what he did for me and others. Papa Keith rest in peace.
