News from earth, March 2006 -

Auckland Committee

We are well into the new year and the Committee has spent their retreat day planning the year's events. We believe that God is directing us personally and CFFD as a whole in new directions, so we have themed this year as "Our Expedition".

Firstly, this is an exciting year because we celebrate our 30th anniversary. We are already in the process of organising an eventful weekend in September. This will be a great opportunity to bring as many people together who have been a part of this incredible ministry and to thank God for His greatness. Our expedition is our walk with Jesus - through the valleys, triumphs, hopes and dreams. It is an exciting adventure in Him and we need to be in expectation with all the good things He has promised to give us.

Alison Ryan and Jade O'Leary have stepped down from the committee and we would like to thank them very much for their wonderful input. Committee members are :

  • Jean Griffiths - Chairperson;
  • Vanessa Creamer - Secretary;
  • John Beetge - Treasurer;
  • Michael Stoneham:
  • Tim Donnell.

PROFILE

Hi, Everyone - my name is Alasdair Boyd.

I have been visiting the Drop-In Centre regularly for almost a year. While my background is in teaching, serving others at the Centre has allowed me to develop my interpersonal skills and be used by God in real practical ways. I have met some truly wonderful people at the Centre and for me it is a source of hope and encouragement.

Di Willis often encourages us to listen carefully to others as well as to anticipate the needs of others and then act appropriately. This year I hope to become more pro-active.

For those of you who don't know, the Centre also has a library. If you haven't visited the Drop-In Centre before and you have some time on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, make it your goal to get involved. You are sure to find a listening ear, a smiling face, and plenty of opportunities to serve others.
