News from earth, March 2006 -

from the Auckland Chairman, Jean Griffiths

It always amazes me when I see God at work behind the scenes. This year I made the biggest mistake with printing the wrong date in the Encourager, newsletters and registration forms for our Auckland camp. This mistake caused us to lose our worship team, main speaker and great helpers. One thing led to another and it seemed the whole thing was turning to custard with the smallest attendance ever.

It was so easy to feel discouraged and give up, but I believe that God was teaching me something. Not only dependence on Him. but as I went through this expedition with God (our theme) in this difficult period. I came to rely on the scripture Isaiah 40:31 "Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint".

- And it ended up to be the BEST camp ever, because God turned it round for good. He never lets you down !

Finally, we want to welcome Louisa Forde onto the committee.

Auckland Committee

THE NEW AUCKLAND COMMITTEE comprises Jean Griffiths, Vanessa Creamer, Mike Stoneham, John Beetge, Tim Donnell and Louisa Forde. Do support them. The Auckland committee has been thinking up and providing some excellent activities at their meetings, and deserves a good turn out to enjoy these.

PHOTOS from the recent AUCKLAND CAMP

( Click on any picture for an enlarged, but blurrier, version. )

Two men sitting at a table playing chess; another sits in the background, also with a chess board. Two men in wheelchairs with two helpers; all look very cheerful.
A girl sitting at a table is hand-painting with an older friend. The girl is holding up a hand covered in paint; there are two very visible handprints on the table. Two chess players, two onlookers, a guitarist, and an unusual picture on the wall behind.
