A Note from the Auckland Committee

2006 was a good year for CFFD, and the committee is in expectation of another good one. Jean Griffiths writes :

I always love the beginning of a new year - new leaf, new focus, new direction, new zest, new opportunities and most of all, new commitments to God. Seeking God's guidance is the only way !!! This following scripture is comforting because sometimes I wonder if I'm on the right path, and even with committee decisions :

"See I am sending an angel ahead of you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared."  - Exodus 23:20.

Having celebrated 30 years of ministry last year, I believe God wants us to focus on new developments. Knowing that He has already prepared the way, we need to heed it.

As you know, we are establishing the Area groups, so that people can take part in their community. This year we are starting off with Area picnics and it will be a good chance to brainstorm what you would like to see happen for your groups. Your leaders are

  Alison Ryan - North Shore;
Vanessa Creamer - East;
Matalena Moliola - Mt Roskill;
Leila Corban and Jean Griffiths - Central.
Mt Roskill and the West will be meeting together until a leader can be found. So far Mt Roskill and Central have had barbecues, where they looked at suggestions for the year, especially bringing new people in, and the Auckland CFFD held their picnic at Ambury Park as this magazine was away being printed.

Wedding photograph of Tim and Lousia.Sadly, we had to say goodbye to Tim and Louisa, as they have shifted to Gisborne. They had a lovely beach wedding on Waiheke Island in January. We won't forget how they directed our Xtreme camp weekend last year - it was lots of fun. ( Click the picture for a bigger version )

I ask you to please keep the committee members in prayer. At the moment the committee is made up of John Beetge, Vanessa Creamer, Michael Stoneham and Jean Griffiths.

"And this is my prayer : that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best, and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ." Philippians 1:9,10

If you would like to be a part of this, please contact Vanessa for details of our next event (likely to be the end of March). Email Vanessa at nessa@ihug.co.nz, or telephone.

PROFILE

  Photograph of Laurie. Hello ! My name is Laurie Chatfield. I am the Van driver for the Drop-in-Centre. I come in three days a week picking up the people in wheelchairs so they can enjoy the fellowship at the Centre. I also help feed and care for them. It has been a time of growing in God, getting to know other people and moving away from my being self-centred to others-centred.

I have enjoyed the trips to camp, the outings through the year, the practical areas of need and helping people generally.
