|
- Praise God for His faithfulness in providing for Regional Camp and all the lives touched over the
years it has been in action. Thank God for Mike & Janet Meehan - camp directors.
- Thank God for the Wellington branch committee - John, Lyn, Kay, Matthew, Ron, Tony,
Teresa and Sharon. Pray that God would equip and resource each one for the work He has
called them to here.
- Thank God for Lesley and Grace who we support in the Philippines. Pray God's blessing and
provision over them and the ministry at Hebron.

THE ROSE
I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys.
( Song of Songs 2:1 )
|
|
|
|
Some people claim that the rose is the crown jewel of the garden. It's one of my favourites,
and I enjoy capturing its intricacies with paint and brush. For all these reasons and more, I
was touched by a poem sent to me a couple of years ago. Written by a missionary, it's called
"The Rose."
It's only a tiny rosebud - a flower of God's design;
But I can't unfold the petals with these clumsy hands of mine.
The secret of unfolding flowers is not known to such as I -
The flower God opens so sweetly in my hands would fade and die.
If I cannot unfold a rosebud, this flower of God's design,
Then how can I think I have wisdom to unfold this life of mine ?
So I'll trust in Him for His leading each moment of every day,
And I'll look to Him for His guidance each step of the pilgrim way.
For the pathway that lies before me my Heavenly Father knows -
I'll trust Him to unfold the moments just as He unfolds the rose.
|
As the poem suggests, we can't grow the moments of our lives any more than we can peel back the
petals of a rose. As we look to God's leading each moment of the day, we can trust him to
unfurl each hour just as he unfurls the rose. Little wonder the Lord is called the Rose of
Sharon. We just can't get enough of watching his glory, like that glorious flower, unfold in
our lives.
Can you trust God to unfold a lovely plan for your life ? Can people see Jesus more clearly in
you as you bloom ? What changes do you need to make to be able to answer "yes" with
confidence ?
Sun and shower, bud to flower, a rose is like my heart;
I lay it bare, unfurl with care, each fragile fold, each part.
Rose of Sharon, I take care in offering my praise -
It's yours for pleasure, yours forever, a flower for your vase.

THE NOVEMBER MEETING
| | |
Our meeting plans in Petone were washed out as the heavens opened.
Train tracks were set up inside, though, and model trains (some very high tech) travelled. We
talked about life-size train accessibility issues with Kay and Trev. All enjoyed watching all
the trains go round the tracks, thanks to Nigel; weather may have ruled but fun was had!

Some REFLECTIONS
| | |
I am here
Sitting in a chair
The sun is shining
And I am dining
I moved there
Squatting by the chair
With the sun still shining
For a friend a-pining
Chris Lusk
|
I love to see the shadows run From my rocking chair catching the sun As it rocks and moves to and fro I like to see how far it will go From shining to shadow Reflecting through the room

A REFLECTION ON BIRTHDAYS
found by Joan Corry
The only time in our lives when we wish we were old is when we're kids - True, eh!
"How old are you ?", someone asks. "I'm 4 and a half" and, at 4-and-a-half-going-on-5, that half is
important; but it's unlikely that you'd be 36 and a half - right?
Finally the Big day arrives and you BECOME 21 - yes ! Then, the whole thing starts slipping away. You turn 30 - all of a
sudden you're pushing 40 - you reach 50 - and you make it to 60 [ which is a relief ] - you've
built up so much speed you HIT 70 - YOU get into YOUR 80's.
It's around now, thank goodness,
that the brakes go on.
You even become like a kid again, "How old are you?", people ask; "I'm 91 and a half", you tell
them.
I enjoy -
Anonymous
- Being with my Grandchildren
- Shopping
- Travelling
- Sunny warm days.

CHRISTMAS DINNER - December 2006
| | |
This year's celebration of Jesus' birthday was a little different.
Evelyn did an excellent job as
Quizmaster where the whole crowd was asked a series of questions in order to be eliminated
for the final round. We were all given pink TRUE and blue FALSE papers. For a contestant to
win a prize, they were required to answer 2 out of 3 further questions correctly. There were
good prizes along with a booby prize of one of Steven's dirty socks!
We had a lovely Christmas
meal prepared by Margaret Inch and husband and were each given a gift by the branch.

JANUARY MOVIE NIGHT
| | |
Our summer activity was a movie night requested by the membership at the recent
brainstorming sessions. We watched "ALADDIN", the 90's cartoon comedy. It was a good night with good PIZZA and company.
