CHRISTCHURCH BRANCH SUPPLEMENT : Encourager 117

( November 2007 )

What's here :

First things first -

News from earth :

To Him Who overcometh :

We need not be at sea to experience Storms in our life.

We are often tossed about with worry, concern for another's health, finding finance to meet the day. Even troubles in home life and relationships often cause heartache and stress.

When trials blow very hard, we become afraid and feel alone; a Wave too big for us, it seems.

Be brave be strong, fear not ! Jesus is not asleep !

He calls, 'Be still, I will not leave thee nor forsake thee.' ( Hebrews 13v5 )

'Why were you afraid, Jesus asks. 'Believe that I will take care of you - believe in faith.' ( Luke 8v25 )

The raging will become calm and quietness will be His command.

'Be still and know that I am God' He whispers. ( Psalm 46v10 )

'Open the Door to your heart today and I will come in and sit with thee.' ( Revelation 3v20,21 )

God Bless You !

Ray & Pat

Shelter in the time of storm.

The disciples with Jesus, their Lord,
On the sea in a vessel were tossed.
As the wind loudly blew and waves roared,
Much they feared that they all should be lost.

To their prayers, his ear he inclined
To the wind and water he spake :
"Peace, be still", and soon hushed the wind,
And the waters their roaring forsake.

Ah! How ready is Jesus to save!
And how strong is his arm to protect!
Then his mercy we ever will crave;
And an answer will ever expect.

Can You or Can't You ?

There are always two sides to any situation in life.
It mostly depends on how you frame it !

The CAN'Ts -

The CAN DOs -

We've never done it before     -----     We have the opportunity to be first
It's too complicated     -----     Let's look at it from a different angle
We don't have the resources     -----     Necessity is the mother of invention
It will never work     -----     We'll give it a try
There's not enough time     -----     We'll re-evaluate some priorities
We already tried it     -----     We learned from the experience
There's no way it will work     -----     We can make it work
It's a waste of time     -----     Think of the possibilities
It's a waste of money     -----     The investment will be worth it
We'll cannibalise our own sales     -----     We'll do it before they do
We don't have the expertise     -----     Let's work with those who do
We can't compete     -----     We'll get a jump on the competition
Our people won't go for it     -----     Let's show them the opportunities
It's good enough     -----     There is always room for improvement
We don't have enough money     -----     Maybe there's something we can cut
We're understaffed     -----     We're a lean, mean machine
We don't have enough room     -----     Temporary space may be an option
It will never flow     -----     We'll never know till we try
It's not my job     -----     I'll be glad to take the responsibility
I can't     -----     I can!

Looking back :

  Fun Walk in the Park
In September we had a great time in Hagley Park.

We met for a sponsored walk by Albert Lake.

It was nice to catch up with everybody. A big "Thank you !" to all those who participated and sponsored and helped to set up, and to the drivers too.

  October : 25th Birthday
This last October our Branch of CFFD had its 25th Birthday !

At the October Meeting we had an exceptional visual experience. Ray showed a DVD by Louie Giglio showing the awesome splendour of God's creation and love.

The Stars, the Galaxies, the speed of Light and His Son on the cross.

It was truly a moving presentation.
