AUCKLAND COMMITTEE

  A scripture which really spoke to me was from Psalm 18:2 :

"The Lord is my Rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock in whom I take refuge.
He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold."

I see this verse as a great promise of His unshakeable love and sure foundation for the plans He has for this ministry. As we lean on Him, we can be strengthened when going through difficult times.

At the end of November, the committee was blessed to rent a lovely house for a weekend at The Sandspit which had fabulous views of the estuary, and where we were able to watch the beautiful sunsets. This setting was a great spot to have a retreat as we sought God for 2008. One of the things we did was have someone come to do a workshop, where she put in perspective what the ministry and the committee has been doing in the past, where we are now, and what we would like to see happen in the future.

A couple of changes :

  • Vanessa Creamer has taken the role of Chairperson and I will be the Secretary;
  • Sadly, we will be losing John Beetge at the end of March, as he and Sandi will be residing in Australia;
  • Michael Stoneham will also be leaving after Auckland camp - this leaves four on the committee once again.
Both John and Michael will be great losses, however there is a season for everything, and I know God will have others coming on board.

Please pray for us at this time as we step into new developments.

Blessings !

Jean

COMING EVENTS

  Auckland Camp : 28-30th March 2008; Carey Park, Henderson
  Cost :

Adults - $65; 7-12yrs - $50;
4-6yrs - $25; Day Visitors - $5;
lunch  - $9; dinner  - $12.

Unfortunately, Carey Park has raised their fees, but COGS has been able to subsidise the balance of the cost, so there is still quite a substantial discount. With day visitors we are keeping it to Carey Park costs.

Already this camp is shaping up to be a good one, with David Burge as our speaker, and "The Amazing Race" for the Saturday night activity.

It's not a camp without you, so please come and discover the mighty things God has for you.

Camp forms can be collected from the Centre or from any of the committee members. There will also be Police vetting forms this year, as it is now CMWDT's policy. For more information ring Jean or Vanessa.

  Other Dates for 2008 :
  5 July : AGM at the Fickling Centre;

22 November : Greyfriars Hall.

PROFILE

  Hello, my name is Leon Keegan. I live in Greenlane at one of the Laura Fergusson Units outside the complex, which I like because I have my own independence. ( Click the picture for a separate version )

I was introduced to CFFD by someone who was involved in the Joy Ministries. I have Cerebral Palsy and enjoy going to Newmarket on my own. I frequent Two Double Seven and enjoy cruising around. I love playing board games and cards and have friends drop in to see me.

I attend a small church nearby and have met some nice people. I am the youngest of four children. I go and stay with my parents every 2nd weekend and go for outings with my mum and dog Sammi.

WRITTEN BY JENNY HOOK

  "Jesus of Nazareth? Jesus ... of Nazareth?" Where had Isaac heard that name before? Leaning on his shepherd's staff, Isaac looked up at the sign hung over the condemned man.

Of course! Back in Bethlehem in the stable! He'd been but a boy out in the fields then. He could still hear the sound of the man's greeting : "I am Joseph of Nazareth, this is my wife Mary and our little one, Jesus. Welcome!"

Isaac watched as the Chief Priests and teachers of the law mocked Jesus. "Let this Christ - this king of Israel - come down." So different were they from the three men he had seen, dressed in their richly decorated robes and gold crowns. They had followed a star from the east to find the 'King of the Jews.'

Suddenly day turned to night around Isaac. He watched in wonder as silence descended on the crowd. So different from the clamour of the angels out in the fields so long ago. The shepherds themselves spread the news of all they had seen and heard.

"My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" The earth beneath Isaac's feet began to shake violently, and he was thrown on his face. What was going on?...

Jesus had ridden the colt towards Jerusalem ... Isaac could still see the palm branches waved high in the air, clothes placed on the ground as the colt moved forward. "Blessed is the coming kingdom of our Father David!" still rang in his ears.

Jesus in the temple... his eyes blazing with anger. "It is written ... My Father's house will be called a house of prayer!"

Was it really possible that Jesus had been dead three days? Yes ... it was ... it was final .... the Saviour had been killed. Heavy hearted, Isaac looked up.

His heart leapt within him, for Jesus himself walked towards him.

CHURCH NOTICES

The Fasting & Prayer Conference includes meals.
The sermon this morning: "Jesus Walks on the Water."
The sermon tonight: "Searching for Jesus."
Ladies, don't forget the rummage sale. It's a chance to get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Bring your husbands.
The peacemaking meeting scheduled for today has been cancelled due to a conflict.
Miss Charlene Mason sang "I will not pass this way again," giving obvious pleasure to the congregation.
Next Thursday there will be try-outs for the choir. They need all the help they can get.
The Rector will preach his farewell sermon, after which the choir will sing "Break Forth Into Joy."
The ladies of the Church have cast off clothing of every kind. They may be seen in the basement on Friday afternoon.
