The happy group of about 30 people were welcomed by Sara who asked Don to read a Bible
passage and Percy to pray before several folk shared about Labour weekend camp at Totara
Springs.
Meredith said it was her first camp and she hopes to go again. She enjoyed it very much and
loved the worship times. Bob said two memorable things happened at camp. His granddaughter
was baptised, and he paid an enormous amount for a bar of chocolate at the auction! Over
$2,000 was raised for the Philippines.
Margie led us in a couple of games which caused a great deal of hilarity as well as exercising
our brains.
Our speaker was Rosemary, Margie's care-giver. Debbie led us in singing with Don
providing the music. We had a time of prayer especially remembering Ken in India with
HCJB.

Paul wrote, "...that Jesus Christ might enter your heart and settle down and be at home
there." Does Christ feel at home in your heart and life? Have a portrait of Christ in your
mind and when unwanted thoughts come knocking, concentrate on His portrait. If you want
food that will really satisfy, do the will of your Father in Heaven. Everything else leaves you
unsatisfied.
Don't neglect time alone with Jesus every day. It is not our ability but our availability which
matters. A lady said she had some hidden stuff in a closet of her life and she didn't have the
strength to clean it out. So she gave Jesus the key and He did it for her. So she asked Him to
keep her whole house clean and take over. Instead of Him being her guest, she became His
servant. If you knew Jesus was coming to your house, would you want to change a few things?
We were each given a nicely printed and laminated copy of the poem, "IF JESUS CAME TO YOUR HOUSE". On reading this we discovered it was an up-dated version, mentioning modern things such as
a DVD we might want to hide!

MEREDITH AND DEBRA'S DAY AT PARACHUTE 2008
|
|
|
Cees and Lindsay picked them up at 6.45am.
When we got there we had a look around and headed for the main stage where there
was worship led by the parachute band and a speaker from the USA.
Our highlights of the
day were the barn dances, the worship and the international dancers and the yummy food of
course!!
We both came home with a parachute T-shirt and Debs with a CD. It was a great
day out and we enjoyed listening to the different bands and dancing. The weather was great, the
bands were awesome, and the people were friendly." Now the question is, will we go back next
year? I'd say so !

GIVING AND RECEIVING
|
|
|
We all have gifts and we should share them. One lady had a gift of growing flowers. Even in
her nineties she still grew beautiful carnations. One Christmas season she was invited to the
Auckland CFFD Christmas Dinner. She picked a bunch of her best carnations and said she
wanted to give them to a blind person.
At the gathering she was introduced to a blind young lady who gladly received the sweet-scented flowers - in fact she was quite overwhelmed. She said that she had NEVER been given
flowers ever before. All evening she smelt them and when anyone came and spoke to her she
held out her precious bouquet saying, "Smell my flowers, aren't they lovely?"
No one could
tell who got the most pleasure, the blind girl, or the lady who gave her the flowers. When
told that she was kind, this dear lady used to say, "Well, God pours out so much kindness on
me, I have plenty left over to share with you." Another of her sayings was, "Jesus said, 'Give
and you will receive, the gift will return to you in full - pressed down, shaken together to
make room for more, running over and poured into your lap.'" ( Luke 6:3 8 NLT )
From the example of Jesus,
Who went about doing good,
we are to honour our Saviour
by helping wherever He would.
THE JOY OF DOING GOOD MAY BE THE ONLY REWARD WE RECEIVE - BUT IT'S WORTH IT !
