CHRISTMAS DINNER MEETING
LIFEPOINT CHURCH - DECEMBER 1ST
This year CFFD held their annual end of year celebration at Lifepoint church. This proved to
be a very fitting location for the 50 or so brave souls who ventured out into the brilliant
sunshine and warm temperatures on a perfect summer's evening.
The event was overseen by Dave Lusk, who after being carefully chosen as the events MC (he
was the last person to get a seat at the committee meeting) provided light entertainment -
although not always intentionally!
The food was beautifully catered by Pauline Velasco and her very capable team from
Lifepoint, who delighted everyone by providing a delicious fare combining traditional Kiwi
tucker with a range of cuisine from other cultures.
The centrepiece of the night's festivities focused on a game show : "Who wants to be a
Christmas sugar freak ?" This was cleverly put together by the decidedly naughty Sharon
Blackwood and Evelyn Churchill, with their equally mischievous sidekicks Matt and Emma.
Their efforts were topped off with the witty talents of Mr Steven Woodward, undoubtedly a
future camp speaker!
Contestants ( all of us ) were split into teams and asked a range of questions from the baffling
to the benign involving certain CFFD personalities, biblical knowledge and medieval dances
involving farm animals - although not necessarily in that order.
The clever ones amongst us were rewarded for their brilliance with copious amounts of
chocolate, artificial colouring and enough sugar to make some of us think that Jesus must
have already come and brought Christmas with Him !
All in all, a wonderful evening was had by those who attended. Those who didn't attend did
something else ! I'm sure that it couldn't have been anywhere near as exciting ! Make sure you
get in quick and book your spot for this year !
