FEBRUARY MEETING

At this the first CFFD meeting this year Wendy Frazer was guest speaker. Wendy has a great love for Israel and its people. She and her husband went to Israel in 2002 with the Israeli Christian Embassy. They arrived in time for the Feast of Tabernacles and joined in the Jerusalem march with people from Israel and other nations.

APRIL MEETING

We were welcomed by Ken. It was lovely to have Joy back with us after three years of her living in Auckland. Mavis brought a Bible reading and shared a short testimony as to why these verses meant a lot to her. Our speaker was James Arkwright who works at Bethlehem Institute in counselling education. As a member of Christian Ministries with Disabled Trust, James began his talk by telling us about CMWDT and he informed us that Nick Abplanalp is now the Trust member responsible for keeping an eye on the Tauranga group. Nick hopes to meet us before long when he comes down this way. After a question time, Debbie thanked James, and Lyndsay presented him with a copy of Margie's book "Undaunted Faith". Ken then led a discussion on what we can do for Disability Sunday and announced that our next meeting will be on 14th June.

EASTER

On Easter Sunday St. Columba church held their usual 7 a.m. sunrise service at the Otumoetai beach. Because of daylight saving it was still a little dark when the first people began to arrive and there was a chilly wind, but by the time the service began, the wind had gone. A fire, in remembrance of the one on the beach that first Easter, burned brightly for much of the service. But the tide came in towards the end and washed it away.

About 65 people took part, some from other churches. Rev. Donald Hegan provided music with his guitar as praises to God filled the morning air. Just as we sang the words "Up from the grave He arose", the sun came up like a big red ball - an awesome sight.

Communion was served along with fish, which had been cooked that morning, and it wasn't hard to visualise Jesus giving the disciples bread and fish for breakfast. All agreed it was a great service and a wonderful way to begin Easter Sunday morning.

  • We are planning to combine the June meeting with Disability Sunday at the Tauranga Central Baptist Church. There will be lunch after the service.

  • Please pray for one or two more people to serve on the local committee. Also pray for the other branches of CFFD.
