Ron Blackwood has stood down from the Committee for a while, for personal reasons.

Secretary : Lyn Hawkins, 14 Moana Grove, Gracefield, Lower Hutt; email : johnlyn@ihug.co.nz.

Newsletter Editor  : Shirley Jamieson; email : shirleyjay@maxnet.co.nz.

Email Addresses
With our ever-growing mailing list and the increase in postal charges, we now need to look at ways to reduce costs. Emailing, instead of posting, our newsletter to as many people as possible is one way of doing this. If you have an email address that we can use as a way of communicating with you, we would be grateful if you would let us know, either by email or by telephoning John or Lyn.

Sympathy
Our thoughts and prayers are extended to :
  • Prue, Chris & David Lusk on the passing of Prue's sister, Margie Nevill, on 14th July;
  • Mike & Janet Meehan on the passing of Mike's father on 19th July.
Prayer Meeting
19 Maher Street, Upper Hutt ( home of Ric & Viv Hurrell ).

The CFFD Prayer Meetings are held on the last Monday of each month at 7.30pm under the guidance of Julian & Irene Paton. All are welcome. For further details, please ring them. Julian & Irene are also our Prayer Chain Co-ordinators - please ring them with your prayer requests.

Home-Group Meetings
There is a CFFD Home-group operating at Maddison in Karori. If you are interested in attending, ring Evelyn Churchill or email Teresa Stuart on teeee@clear.net.nz.

There is also a church-affiliated, disability-friendly home-group on Tuesday evenings at Avalon Assembly of God, Lower Hutt which you are welcome to attend. If you are interested, ring John Hawkins.

If you are interested in attending a home-group in another area, please let John know, and he will attempt to find a suitable one for you.

God's Gift To Me  : Courage

by Victor S Grewal

Thank you God for the gift of courage
And for the courage to continue to smile when things don't go right
For me
Sorry to say
It's like everyday
When people stare at me because of the way I walk
And when people sometimes make fun of the way I talk
I continue to smile
Whenever I go for a job interview
It seems as if the interviewer is more interested more about my disability
Rather than my ability to perform the job efficiently
All of this sometimes makes me mad, sad, and upset
But still I continue to smile
It's not easy and it takes a lot of courage
And I thank God for this very special gift.
